Activision releases detailed guide for enabling security features ahead of Modern Warfare 4 beta
Activision's Ricochet anti-cheat team has published a guide to help PC players enable TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot for the Modern Warfare 4 beta, as stricter security requirements are now mandatory for all online modes.

As the first weekend of the *Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4* beta approaches, Activision's Ricochet anti-cheat team has released a comprehensive guide to help PC players enable essential security features required for online play. These features, including TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot, have been part of *Call of Duty* for some time but are now stricter for *Modern Warfare 4* compared to previous titles like *Black Ops 7* and the current *Warzone*.
## Stricter security requirements for Modern Warfare 4
Previously, players who did not meet the security requirements were only restricted from certain game modes, such as Ranked Play, and might be placed in separate matchmaking pools. However, for the *Modern Warfare 4* beta, the restrictions have tightened: players who do not meet the requirements will be barred from all online game modes.
To assist players, Activision has not only published a detailed guide but also released a video tutorial covering UEFI/BIOS walkthroughs for both AMD and Intel systems. Additionally, the *Call of Duty Secure Attestation Wizard*, an app that checks whether a PC meets the security requirements, was updated earlier this month in preparation for *Modern Warfare 4*.
## How TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot enhance anti-cheat measures
Secure Boot is a low-level system feature that grants anti-cheat software deeper access to the Windows installation, preventing cheats from running during startup. TPM 2.0 (Trusted Platform Module) builds on Secure Boot by adding a hardware-based layer of protection that detects tampering with the PC's boot process.
These security measures have become increasingly common in competitive PC games, including *Battlefield 6* and *Valorant*. *Battlefield 6* already enforces Secure Boot, and Battlefield Studios plans to mandate TPM 2.0 soon. While these features are effective at preventing cheats, they also restrict some players from accessing the game.

*Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4* is set to release in 2026 and will be available on the following platforms:
