Colorbound Celebrates Andean Culture on Xbox
Two new game releases are highlighted: the puzzle-platformer Colorbound, which explores Aymara culture, and the action-focused Castlevania: Belmont's Curse.

Two distinct gaming experiences have arrived for players. The puzzle-platformer Colorbound is now available on Xbox Series X|S, offering a heartfelt story rooted in Chilean culture. Separately, the long-awaited new Castlevania entry, Belmont's Curse, has launched as a modern action game developed by the studios behind Dead Cells.
Colorbound Release
Colorbound is a puzzle-platformer available now on Xbox Series X|S. Players control a boy named Anku, who lives in the Chilean mountains with his grandmother, as he embarks on a journey sparked by collecting a panpipe, or la zampoña.
The game originated from a concept created for the 2025 Latin American Games Showcase Game Jam. Developer Isaías Arrué aimed to celebrate Andean culture, using a pastel, watercolor-inspired palette and music to tell a story of family, love, and loss. Color is central to both the game's mechanics and its cultural representation, with hints in the game stating, "If you can't see it, it can't affect you." The music, featuring the traditional panpipe, works alongside the visual style to immerse players in the atmosphere of the Andes and the life of Anku's grandfather, Eloy. Whitethorn Games published this title, which is designed to inspire curiosity about the featured Aymara culture.
Castlevania: Belmont's Curse
Castlevania: Belmont's Curse is a new action game developed by Evil Empire and Motion Twin, the studios responsible for Dead Cells. The game follows a new protagonist, Rose Belmont, the daughter of Trevor Belmont, as she battles monsters in a world where Dracula has returned.
The title is noted for its stunning visual presentation and fluid animation. Environments range from Dracula's castle to a serene cemetery, with detailed background art and character motion. Rose's movement is quick and snappy, with her whip serving a dual purpose as a weapon and a grappling hook for traversal and combat. This whip-hook mechanic fundamentally opens up exploration and enemy engagement.
Rose's arsenal expands beyond her sword and whip. Players can discover new weapons like a lance and metal gauntlets, and unlock Arcana cards that function as spells. These include attacks such as a holy cross and a petrifying glare. The game features boss fights inspired by various cultures, including fictional figures like Medusa and historical ones like Joan of Arc. While praised for its action and visuals, the game has been described as a less stellar Metroidvania, with some platforming challenges involving instant-death spikes that reset progress rather than cause a full game over.
