Ubisoft is planning to close the Helsinki-based RedLynx studio, affecting up to 52 jobs pending local negotiations. The company is also making staff reductions at its Singapore studio, where 70 positions will be impacted. These cuts are part of a broader, top-to-bottom reorganisation aimed at improving the publisher's long-term agility and creative focus.

Ubisoft Singapore faces 70-position impact in realignment

At Ubisoft Singapore, 70 positions have been impacted to align the studio with upcoming production needs. One statement noted the layoffs at Ubisoft Singapore will ultimately impact 70 positions in an effort to “align the studio with upcoming production needs.” This realignment is a direct component of Ubisoft's wider restructuring strategy.

Restructuring drives broader studio changes across Ubisoft

The closures and layoffs are part of Ubisoft’s top-to-bottom reorganisation aimed at regaining agility and creative leadership. This transformation, described by CEO Yves Guillemot as "one of the most ambitious in the company's history," began in January. The goal is to create a more focused, agile, and disciplined organization to support a sustained release cadence. Guillemot has called the 2025-26 fiscal year 'one of decisive action for Ubisoft,' aiming to reclaim creative leadership and drive a sharp rebound. The company expects the 2026-27 fiscal year to represent a low point in cash flow during this process.

RedLynx legacy and recent role in Ubisoft support work

RedLynx, known for the Trials series, had shifted to support roles on projects like Star Wars: Outlaws Switch 2 port prior to closure. The studio, founded in 2000 and acquired by Ubisoft in 2011, released its last major standalone title, Trials Rising, in 2019. Since then, it moved into a support capacity within Ubisoft's 'Creative Network' division. Its recent work included ports for The Division 2 and the upcoming Switch 2 version of Star Wars: Outlaws. The studio does not currently have an active development project of its own. Ubisoft stated, We deeply value the contributions of both teams and recognize the impact this may have on our colleagues.

The proposal to close RedLynx is subject to mandatory change negotiations under Finnish law. This process must be completed before the closure, affecting up to 52 positions, is finalised.
