Steam has made $15 billion in revenue during 2026, according to market analysis from Alinea Analytics. The platform's income comes from commissions, publishing fees, and sales through its storefront.

Leading the charge are several major new releases. Forza Horizon 6 tops the list, earning Steam $210.5 million in revenue. Crimson Desert follows closely with $203.3 million, while Resident Evil Requiem and Slay the Spire 2 also posted strong figures.

Top Steam Releases by Revenue

GameRevenue (in millions)
Forza Horizon 6$210.5
Crimson Desert$203.3
Resident Evil Requiem$200.9
Slay the Spire 2$139.2
Subnautica 2$89.8
Meccha Chameleon$89.8

These six titles alone represent 6.6% of Steam's total 2026 revenue to date. Analyst Rhys Elliot provided the data to GameSpot. He noted that the top 100 new games by gross revenue make up 15.9% of Steam's total for the year, amounting to roughly $2.4 billion.

New IP vs. Established Franchises

Within that top 100, a clear dynamic emerges between new intellectual property and established series. Elliot stated that 63% of the games were new IPs. However, established franchises generated 52.5% of the revenue from that group, or $1.25 billion.

Crimson Desert plays an outsized role in the new IP category. Its $203 million in sales accounts for about 18% of all new-IP revenue within the top 100. Elliot's analysis reveals a significant shift when that single title is excluded. "When we take Crimson out of the analysis, the 62 new-IP games make up only about 39%," he wrote. This shows the heavy lifting done by familiar franchises.

Future Revenue and Platform Economics

Steam's revenue is poised for further growth before the year ends. Highly anticipated titles like Phantom Blade Zero, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, and Gears of War: E-Day are on the horizon. Valve earns a percentage from all sales on its platform. This includes full game purchases, downloadable content, and microtransactions, which are a lucrative part of modern gaming.

The $15 billion figure highlights Steam's dominant position in PC gaming sales. Elliot recently discussed the components of game pricing with GameSpot as part of a feature series. The platform's financial success continues as it serves as the primary storefront for millions of players and developers worldwide.
