Railbreak DX Expands Zombie Shooter with New Characters
Railbreak DX, an expanded version of the on-rails arcade shooter, launches today on Xbox Series X|S and via Xbox Play Anywhere and Cloud Streaming.

Railbreak DX launches today on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Play Anywhere, and Xbox Cloud Streaming. This expanded version of the on-rails zombie shooter from Dead Drop Studios features upgraded graphics, new play modes, and a doubled character roster.
According to a post on Xbox Wire by developer Julia Wolbach, the game's core story mode follows detective Lydia Daniels and mercenary Hank through the zombie-infested Cypress Ridge. The automated camera requires sharp reflexes to spot hidden weapons, like a powerful magnum pistol on a park bench in Act IV. Story mode is also the only place players can pick up special environmental weapons, such as a rumored plasma-infused SMG.
A Diverse Cast with Varied Play Styles
The original game's nine characters have been expanded to 18 survivors in Railbreak DX. Each has a unique load-out, firing rate, damage output, and special quirks that change the gameplay strategy.
Playing as Michael eliminates the need to find curative sprouts but makes high-difficulty runs risky due to ammo consumption. Choosing Rin, however, prioritizes high scores at the cost of survivability. Her katana's special beam attack grants bonus points and damage but also applies a random negative condition.
Advanced Tips for High Scores
Wolbach's guide offers several strategies for mastering Railbreak DX. A key rule is to avoid shooting innocent civilians, as doing so inflicts a health penalty on the player. This penalty does not apply if civilians are caught in explosions from grenades or special infected like the "Boom Boom."
Grenades are best used as a last resort since they award few points. The developer advises, "One of the best ways to boost your score is to target enemy limbs and heads." Precision headshots grant extra damage and points, while shooting limbs can break them off, limiting a zombie's attacks and mobility. Prioritizing explosive enemies like the Kunoichi can clear crowds effectively.
Additional Modes and Platform Features
The deluxe package includes additional content like an endless Onslaught mode, chaotic "Glitch" effects, and the option to add dinosaurs to the mix. The game supports Xbox Cloud Streaming for instant play and Xbox Play Anywhere for syncing progress and achievements across Xbox consoles and PC.
Dead Drop Studios confirmed that future content updates and paid DLC are planned for Railbreak DX. The launch post concludes by reminding players to stay sharp in Cypress Ridge.
