IllFonic has patched out a sex minigame from Halloween: The Game, confirming the removal was due to a 'major oversight.' The developer's statement came after a viral gameplay clip showed the character Samuel Loomis, who uses a deceased actor's likeness, engaging in the minigame with a teenage character.

The video game adaptation, which fully launches on September 8, allowed Deluxe Edition buyers early access this past weekend. Players quickly discovered a minigame where two characters hiding in a closet could engage in a button-mashing sequence, earning a 'Stronger Together' buff upon success. The action is not visually explicit, but characters grunt as a bar is filled.

Viral Clip Sparks Controversy

The controversy erupted when a clip posted to social media showed Dr. Samuel Loomis completing the minigame with 17-year-old Lynda van der Klok. Loomis is a psychiatrist in his fifties, based on the likeness of the late actor Donald Pleasence. This specific pairing raised immediate questions given the age difference and the use of a deceased actor's likeness in this context.

IllFonic initially released a hotfix without mentioning the minigame's removal, focusing instead on crash fixes. The developer has now stated the minigame was removed because an 'unintended issue' allowed 'end game reinforcement characters' to participate. The company says its current focus is on 'immediate game needs.'

Player Reaction and Calls for Restoration

Following the patch, some players have called for the minigame's return, albeit with restrictions. Discussions on forums like Reddit suggest players want the feature restored but potentially blocked for specific characters like Samuel Loomis. One player lamented the loss of the cooperative activity, questioning the removal.

IllFonic has not commented on whether the minigame will return in a modified form. The developer stated it has 'more content and minigames coming in the near future' and directed players to its social channels for updates.

Available Characters and Voice Cast

The game features several playable civilians from the Halloween film series. The source report lists the following characters and their voice actors:

Samuel Loomis is listed as a 'hero civilian' character in the game.

With the game's full launch approaching, IllFonic is working on a larger patch to address community-reported issues. The developer thanked players for their feedback and support, signing off with 'See you in Haddonfield.' Some early access players now believe they experienced a fleeting piece of content that may not return.
