Square Enix has confirmed a final release date for Final Fantasy 7 Revelation. The concluding chapter of the FF7 Remake trilogy will launch worldwide on April 8, 2027.

Director Naoki Hamaguchi announced the date during Sony's State of Play livestream. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC on the same day. This marks the first simultaneous global and multi-platform launch for a game in this trilogy.

The final chapter's scope

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation concludes the story that began with Final Fantasy 7 Remake. The narrative follows Cloud and his allies as they pursue Sephiroth and attempt to stop a meteor from destroying the planet. A new threat emerges in the form of the Weapons, planetary defense systems that awaken to protect the world but may also endanger humanity.

The new trailer showcased gameplay featuring Cid's airship, the Highwind, which players will use to travel across the world map. According to Eurogamer's report, this installment will be the largest in the trilogy. It will include all locations from the previous games plus new, original areas.

A surprise demo for Resonance

In a separate announcement, Square Enix released a playable demo for its upcoming HD-2D RPG, Final Fantasy Resonance. The demo is available to download immediately and is approximately 5GB in size. It allows players to experience the entire first chapter of the game, which offers an estimated three to five hours of gameplay.

Square Enix confirmed that players can import their demo save data into the full game upon its launch next month. Although announced during a PlayStation-focused stream, the demo is also available on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox platforms.

Platform availability

The source from Eurogamer outlines the platforms for both announcements.

Hamaguchi recently discussed his vision for the trilogy's conclusion in an interview. The director's plans for the final chapter aim to deliver a scaled experience reminiscent of 'the final disc' of the original 1997 title. The surprise Resonance demo follows a pattern from Square Enix, which has offered similar trial periods for recent releases.
