Fallout 76 Public Test Server Opens for Xbox Insiders

Xbox Insiders who own Fallout 76 or have an active Game Pass subscription can join the Fallout 76 Public Test Server (PTS) today. The new server lets players experience upcoming Xbox Series updates before they hit the live game.

What Players Get

The PTS delivers several hardware-specific improvements:

These enhancements bring Fallout 76 to Xbox Series platforms natively, allowing the game to use the console hardware more efficiently. The test is a key step toward ensuring the game feels comfortable on all console hardware.

Players receive a snapshot of their live characters, weapons, armor, items, and C.A.M.P.S. The Atomic Shop and seasonal content are disabled. The PTS Locker, located outside Vault 76, offers easy access to mods, ammo, and weapons for features that need feedback.

Progression made in the PTS does not transfer to the live game, and character progression does not persist between test cycles. A new snapshot is taken before each PTS cycle. Because the PTS contains unfinished content, players may encounter bugs.

Most new content is not yet translated, so the PTS is English-only.

Check the stats for performance details.

Important Notes

If you see an error when selecting Show in Store, wait 15 minutes and try again. If the preview does not appear in the Xbox Insider Hub, confirm you own Fallout 76 or have an active Game Pass subscription.

How to Join

1. Sign in to your Xbox Series X|S console.

2. Launch the Xbox Insider Hub app (install it from the Store if needed).

3. Navigate to Previews > Fallout 76 (Public Test Server).

4. Select Join.

5. Wait for registration to complete, then you’ll be directed to the Store to install Fallout 76 (Public Test Server).

After installation, you can start testing the new features. The PTS is a live service that will evolve as feedback is collected.

Provide Feedback

Join the Bethesda Studios Discord server to share your experience. The Discord is the primary channel for reviewing feedback and bug reports on these updates. After joining, visit #server-roles for steps to gain access to the PTS channels. Your input helps shape the final release.

The PTS launch marks the first step in bringing Fallout 76 to Xbox Series consoles with native performance improvements and a smoother gameplay experience. Players can now test new features, report bugs, and help refine the game before its official release on Xbox Series.
