F1 25 Leads October PlayStation Plus Monthly Games
PlayStation Plus subscribers can claim EA's F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896, and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 starting October 6, 2026.
EA's F1 25 becomes the October 2026 PlayStation Plus Monthly Game, available to all subscribers from October 6. PS5 players with an active Essential, Extra, or Premium subscription can claim the Formula 1 title at no extra cost until November 2. Sony confirmed the lineup, which also includes the extraction shooter Hunt: Showdown 1896 and the co-op action title Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2.
The release is specifically the PS5 version of F1 25. EA and Codemasters originally launched the game on May 30, 2025. It serves as the official video game of the 2025 FIA Formula One World Championship. The PlayStation Plus offering is listed as the base F1 25 game, not the F1 25: 2026 Season Edition. This means the additional 2026 Season Pack, launched by EA in June as content for existing owners, is not part of the subscription offer. New players can purchase a combined 2026 Season Edition separately.
Gameplay and Features
F1 25 includes single-player experiences such as Career and the redesigned My Team 2.0. It also features online multiplayer through a squad-based mode called F1 World. The game introduced substantially revised versions of several real-world circuits using LiDAR data for greater accuracy. Tracks in Bahrain, Miami, Melbourne, Suzuka, and Imola received these more detailed recreations. One reviewer, Dom, noted, "F1 25 is a clear improvement over last year’s entry, with improved handling, the returning Braking Point story mode and more."
Co-op and Extraction Shooter Options
The other two monthly games offer distinct multiplayer experiences. Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 supports four-player online co-op and two-player local split-screen on both PS5 and PS4. It features voxel-style redesigns of past enemies and new original foes. Reviewer Jason described its appeal, saying, "It makes for a good game for younger gamers, and that’s clear to see throughout."
Hunt: Showdown 1896 is described as a new era of the addictively unforgiving extraction shooter. Set in corrupted backwaters filled with monsters and rival hunters, it allows for solo play or teams of up to three. All subscribers can claim the Hunt: Showdown 1896 Starter Pack starting October 6. Base game ownership is required to use this pack's contents. One assessment of the game's community noted, In practise it’s mostly abandoned by people either sprinting all the time or camping all the time.
Additional Perks and Availability
Alongside the three core games, PlayStation Plus members receive additional limited-time content. Starting October 6, Spider-Man Brand New Day Avatars are available via Sony Pictures Core at no extra cost. On October 7, an Overwatch 2 Dragur Reinhardt + 5 Tier Skips Pack becomes claimable by all subscribers. These are part of a broader PlayStation Plus Exclusive HorrorFest promotion.
Monthly Games are included across all three PlayStation Plus tiers. F1 25 will be available for download starting Tuesday, October 6, 2026, with PlayStation Plus members able to claim it until Monday, November 2.
