The Blood of Dawnwalker, a 2026 PC RPG from developer Rebel Wolves, can be demanding on hardware but offers extensive graphics options for tuning performance. The game's system requirements were lightened since their February reveal, now recommending an RTX 4070 Ti for 4K at 60 frames per second instead of a previously feared RTX 5090, according to an IGN performance guide.

While available on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, the guide states the PC version is where the game truly shines. It runs on Unreal Engine 5 and includes a full suite of modern graphics settings without bundling multiple techniques under a single option. The game is reportedly heavy on the CPU.

Performance on high-end hardware is strong. The guide reports that at 4K resolution with DLSS set to Quality and the Ultra preset, an RTX 5090 achieves between 70 and 90 frames per second before frame generation is applied. However, performance on handheld devices is poor; testing on a Lenovo Legion Go 2 at the lowest settings and 900p resolution yielded only about 24 frames per second indoors.

Recommended Graphics Settings

The IGN guide provides specific setting recommendations for mid-range PCs and handheld devices across several key graphics options.

Texture Quality is treated separately, as it primarily affects VRAM usage. The guide suggests using the Ultra setting for systems with 16GB or more of VRAM, High for 8-12GB, and Medium or Low for less than 8GB. Stuttering may indicate a need to lower this setting first.

Upscaling and Frame Generation

The game supports all major vendor upscaling technologies: DLSS for Nvidia users, FSR for AMD, and XeSS for Intel. This is noted as a departure from some other Unreal Engine 5 titles that default to TSR. For the Upscaling Mode, Performance mode is suggested for systems struggling to hit 60 fps, though the guide cautions it can look rough at lower resolutions.

Frame Generation, which uses AI to insert frames, is recommended. "This will nearly double your frame rate, but will increase latency by a little bit," the guide states. Because the game is not competitive or fast-paced, turning it on is advised, especially for high-refresh-rate monitors.

Additional Visual Toggles

Several post-processing effects can be individually toggled with minimal performance impact. Motion Blur and Chromatic Aberration are described as personal preference choices with little performance cost. Bloom does affect performance slightly and could be turned off on low-end GPUs. Depth of Field, which blurs distant objects, is labeled a nice effect typically left on.

The guide's author, Jackie Thomas, Hardware and Buying Guides Editor at IGN, emphasizes the game's stunning environments, particularly its realistic foliage and water, though she notes character models do not reach the same visual fidelity. She concludes by advising players to experiment with the detailed settings to balance the atmospheric, shadow-heavy world with smooth performance on their specific hardware.
